Born in England in 1957, David Noton is an award-winning landscape and travel photographer with over 30 years’ experience. After a military career, including the Merchant Navy, his passion for photography took over and he returned to college in England to study Editorial & Advertising Photography and, in his final year, a range of his landscapes were published as posters by Athena.
After setting up his photography business in Bristol, in 1985, David initially undertook work for local design groups, PR consultancies and advertising agencies in the region. His career also developed within the landscape and travel arenas, winning awards in the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year competition in 1985, 1989 and 1990.
During this time David joined the Telegraph Colour Library (now part of Getty Images) and spent most of his time travelling and shooting stock work. When in the UK he undertook regular commissions for the National Trust as well as working for advertising and PR agencies. Over the following years, he travelled extensively to almost every part of the world, exploring deserts, rainforests, mountains, islands and ice caps.
In 2005 he switched to shooting with Canon’s digital EOS System and in 2008 David’s first book ‘Waiting for the Light’ was launched to critical acclaim at a four-week exhibition in London, which attracted over 27,000 visitors. In 2010 his book ‘Full Frame’ was published alongside his second film ‘Photography in the RAW’. His pictures are now published all over the world and he writes for a broad range of media, including photographic magazines and websites. David is also a Canon Ambassador, a Fellow of the Royal Photographic Society, an official Adobe Influencer and a brand Ambassador for Manfrotto.
